Roselle Sister Cities Association German Committee visits Laatzen at the "Festival of the Senses" for the Official Signing Ceremony

Representatives from the Roselle Sister Cities Association (RSCA) German Committee have returned from a delegation visit to sister city Laatzen, Germany, where they joined local residents in celebrating the annual Fest der Sinne (Festival of the Senses) at Laatzen’s acclaimed Park der Sinne.

The weekend festival served as the centerpiece of Roselle’s travel itinerary, highlighting the vibrant cultural exchange and deep-rooted friendship between the two communities.

Laatzen, Germany currently has Sister Cities in Poland, Germany, France, Austria, and, now, the United States. Each year, the Laatzen delegation invites their sister cities to participate in a weekend event such as the Festival of the Senses.

Highlights of the Delegation’s Visit to Laatzen

  • Fest der Sinne Celebrations: The Roselle delegation joined local leaders and community members in Laatzen's expansive Park der Sinne, experiencing live music, regional culinary specialties, unique garden walks, and interactive arts programming designed to engage all five senses.
  • Warm Community Hospitality: Delegates were welcomed by Laatzen host families and local officials, experiencing firsthand Lower Saxony's rich traditions, local sights, and civic hospitality.

"Attending the Festival of the Senses alongside our friends in Laatzen was an unforgettable experience that truly captured the spirit of our partnership," said Nicole Krause, Co-Chair of Roselle Sister Cities Association German Committee. "Experiencing their hospitality in person deepens the connections we cultivate throughout the year and reinforces why this international bridge is so vital for the Village of Roselle."

The centerpiece of the Fest der Sinne for the Roselle Sister Cities Association German Committee arrived as attendees gathered for the official signing of the Sister Cities agreement. Laatzen Mayor Kai Eggert took the stage to sign the landmark document alongside Roselle Mayor David Pileski, who joined virtually. Committee members Nicole Krause, Karen Ostrander, and Patty Martucci were welcomed onto the stage to represent Roselle during the finalization. Marking the occasion, RSCA German Committee Co-Chair Nicole Krause presented Mayor Eggert with a commemorative glass obelisk from the Village of Roselle, closing out the ceremony with remarks on the bright future of this international partnership.
